I’ve been dreaming of Fall weather for what seems like months, and luckily this past weekend, Michael and I got a little taste of it at Amara Resort & Spa in Sedona. Sedona is a quick two-hour drive from Phoenix, but it’s amazing the difference that two hours makes when it comes to both climate and general vibe. With cooler temps, we had a blast hanging out at the resort, enjoying various lawn games by day and nice conversation by the fire at night. Obviously, we also took outfit photos because you all know I can’t pass up such a stunning photo backdrop! Let’s start there…
What I love most about Amara is its location. It’s right in the heart of Sedona but set back from the main road, which creates a really nice, secluded feel. It really is a resort experience, complete with red rock views, an infinity pool and creek-side walking paths.
After shooting, we headed down to the resort lobby for 5 o’clock wine hour. This is one thing I LOVE about all Kimpton Hotels — they offer a free wine hour for guests between 5-6pm. Michael and I always try to attend anytime we stay with Kimpton, and often it’s a great opportunity to mingle with other hotel guests.
After wine, we headed to SaltRock Kitchen for an excellent dinner as suggested by Chef Sam and our server, Blair. Michael and I are huge fans of tapas-style dinners. We just love to taste as many things as humanly possible. And while SaltRock offers more traditional entrees, they had tons of small plate options for us to try. Get ready for the photos…
From top to bottom, we had the Caprese salad (which had watermelon in you, you guys!), lamb with chimichurri, Midnight Canyon cocktail, Diamondback cocktail, deviled eggs, crispy pork belly and the crab cake. I also came back to the bar later for a “s’mondae,” but I ate it before I could take a photo. Check out the menu here for more details. Everything we had was seriously yummy!
After dinner, we went back to the room for some wine and cuddles with Link and Shelby. Did I mention we got to bring the pups with us?! That’s what I love about Kimpton hotels (aside from the free wine) — they’re seriously dog friendly!
Although our trip was a quick one-night stay, it was the perfect weekend getaway to relax, unwind and eat some pretty amazing food. We will definitely be back to the Amara Resort and Spa in the future!
Disclosure: I was offered a free stay and dinner for this honest review.
