Phoenix Fashion Week is just a couple months away, and events surrounding the program are already starting to ramp up. While I was introduced to this year’s designers at the official launch party back in June, I got a true taste of their upcoming collections at the Shop Garment District event last week…and of course, I have some early favorites.
I had a chance to chat with many of the designers at the media meet and greet/wholesale shopping event prior to the show, and Amanda Casarez was one of the ones I spent the most time with. In addition to talking about her collection and general design aesthetic, we chatted about her upcoming move to LA and her fashionable five-year-old daughter who seems to be a designer in the making herself.
After a great conversation, I was thrilled to see a few pieces from Amanda’s upcoming collection on the runway. I love the overall structured look of her pieces and the fact that I could easily pull any of them off the runway and wear them in my day to day. Really looking forward to see what else Amanda shows in October!
Barbara Bultman is another designer I got to chat with pre-show, and someone else I have nothing but great things to say about. This St. Louis designer clearly has an eye for detail and excellent craftsmanship abilities. I am obsessed with all her fringe details and the fact that she not only designed the outfits, but also the accessories. If I had to pick just one early PHXFW16 favorite after Shop Garment District, it would have to be Barbara. I can’t wait to see what else she shows in October!
At the media meet and greet, I was immediately drawn to Isy B.‘s infectious personality and the use of color and patterns in her collections. I had to stop myself from purchasing all of the amazing resort-wear items from her 2015 line at the shopping event prior to the show (because Michael may have killed me). But seriously…amazing. This Cayman Islands designer is a another early favorite and one to look out for in October!
Cosmogyral is one of the more couture designers of Phoenix Fashion Week 2016. Created by Jenine Nerecina, Cosmogyral’s looks are feminine and ethereal, and I found myself dreaming of a romantic vacation as I watched her show. There is a lot of whimsy in this line, and I’m looking forward to seeing the rest of Cosmogyral’s looks at Phoenix Fashion Week in just a couple of months!
Now that one more Phoenix Fashion Week 2016 has passed, I’m getting even more excited for the main event in October. Now, I just have to figure out what I’m going to wear! If any designers are open to collabs on that front, you know where to find me ;)
Here are the details of the look I wore to Shop Garment District:
Hope your week is off to a great start!
