I’ve talked about meditation before on the blog. In fact, a guided meditation app used to be part of my morning routine. However, as life was getting busier, I was starting to fall out of my daily practice. My stress levels were rising, my pesky stomach ulcer came back, and overall I was falling into my old “go go go” habits without taking a moment for myself. Luckily, that all changed when I discovered Current Meditation.
Current Meditation is a guided meditation studio based in Phoenix (and expanding soon). And while I’ve meditated before as a part of yoga classes, nothing could have prepared me for the amazing sensory experience I had at Current Meditation.
Unlike yoga studios, gyms and other health and wellness concepts that offer meditation as a small part of their overall services, Current Meditation is one of the only meditation studios focusing purely on meditation services. Classes offer an aerial meditation experience in the most amazing silk hammocks, along with more traditional grounded positions. They had me at aerial.
As soon as I entered Current Meditation, I was welcomed by a warm, friendly staff and impressed by the overall modern vibe of the studio. I checked in, took off my shoes, put my handbag in a locker and proceeded to enter the meditation studio.
The class itself was 45-minutes long, and while I initially thought that seemed a tad lengthy, it was so amazing that it flew by. Suspended from my cozy silk hammock, I — along with my fellow classmates — were guided through an immersive meditation that including breathing, visualizations and the sounds of various gongs that created the most amazing sensory experience.
Historically, my mind has always had a tendency to wander during meditation, but at Current, the sound of the gongs did a phenomenal job bringing me back to my practice any time my mind became busy. I’m sure the comfort of the silk hammock didn’t hurt either! The overall experience could not have been better. I felt refreshed and renewed, and I left the class on a bit of a mental high.
After class, I grabbed a tea from the studio’s tea bar and spoke to the Meditation Guide about the class before heading back to the front desk to learn a little more about membership options. While monthly unlimited packages typically run $89 per month, there’s a new member special going on for $69 per month for the first two months (if you sign up on your first visit). I loved the experience so much, I signed up for the unlimited membership.
Classes are offered seven days per week, with multiple classes each day. I’m planning to visit Monday-Friday for a 25-minute class over my lunch break, as well as for longer classes on the weekends. I took a group of co-workers last week who also loved the experience. A couple members of my team even signed up for a membership as well. If that’s not a testament to how amazing these classes are, I don’t know what is!
Life is stressful. Between work, family and friends, it’s easy to get caught up and forget to take the time to focus on mental health. I’m thrilled to have Current Meditation here in the Valley to help me recenter, recharge and connect with my authentic self. I’ve already noticed a major impact on my overall health and wellbeing, and I can’t wait to see what continued practice at Current Meditation will bring to my life.
Current Meditation is located at 4325 E. Indian School Road, Suite #130, Phoenix, AZ, 85018, with more locations coming soon. All Classes can be booked on Current Meditation’s website. Phoenix-area residents can also get their first class free.
Disclosure: This is a sponsored post. All opinions are my own, and while I was compensated to explore Current Meditation, I did truly purchase a monthly unlimited membership and will continue to be a member of Current because of how much I love everything they have to offer.
