A couple weeks ago, I attended Phoenix Fashion Week at Talking Stick Resort (catch recaps for days 1, 2 and 3). And while I’ve always loved fashion, it wasn’t until I attended Phoenix Fashion Week that I realized how many amazing emerging designers are out there. That’s why I’m excited to take my experience at Fashion Week to share 5 up and coming ready-to-wear designers you need to know about.
Created by designer Rachael Levine, ARAE is a really interesting line built on beautiful prints created by using shibori tie dye techniques. “Imperfectly crafted” describes this line perfectly in my opinion, as each piece is truly unique, and they come together to create truly effortless looks. And, because each print is done by hand, everything in Rachael’s collection is an ARAE original.
Common fabrics in ARAE’s collections are silks, wools, and cottons. The autumn/winter 2015 line is mainly wools and knits, while spring/summer 2016 is primarily silk pieces.
Where to buy: All currently available pieces can be purchased on ARAE’s website. In addition, the fall/winter line is currently available at Free People, and the spring/summer line will soon be available on EVINE Live.
2. Hues of Ego
Hues of Ego is a line created by Phoenix-based designer Natasha Duran-Lynch, with a mission to bring life to the imagination and alter ego of the ultimate woman. Using her background in architecture, her pieces have the perfect structure and compliment and accentuate women’s unique bodies very well.
I personally love how feminine all the looks are and found myself pining over many of them during Phoenix Fashion Week.
3. Charmosa Swimwear
Charmosa Swimwear is the vision of Brazilian designer, Neide Hall. By embracing hand-painted and hand-embroidered fabrics, Neide ensures that each swimsuit is lovingly crafted and fully unique.
While I adore Charmosa’s suits, Neide’s fringe cover-ups are my absolute favorite thing! With my trip to Belize coming up in just a couple months, I may just need to add some of these looks to my beach wardrobe.
Where to buy: Charmosa’s summer 2016 line is available for pre-order now online and will soon be available on EVINE Live as well. For those in Southern California, Charmosa is also carried at various local swimwear shops.
4. Haute Body
Love wearing workout clothes all day sometimes? Me too…and lucky for us, Haute Body is perfect for that! HauteBody creates luxe performance and lifestyle components for active women. Intelligently created with numerous hidden pockets for things like keys, lip gloss and more, this line is as functional as it is fashionable.
Personally, I am obsessed with Haute Body’s hooded tops and can totally envision myself going from the gym, to the mall, to really anywhere in this “active life runway” attire, as designer Raquel McMorrow calls it.
Where to buy: This line will soon be available for order on the Haute Body website.
5. Lily V Designs
Lily V Designs is the brainchild of Lily Scalf, who just four years ago was a stay-at-home-mom looking for a creative outlet. Since then, she’s shown at multiple fashion shows around the world and is continuing to build out her line of women’s wear fashion and accessories.
I personally love Lily’s use of patterns and color and could really envision her looks appearing at Urban Outfitters and similar retailers.
